Hoopla provides access to popular materials like audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies and more! Current YTC students, faculty, and staff can borrow 25 titles per month through Hoopla. You will need to create a Hoopla account before you can begin borrowing.  Follow the steps listed below to create your Hoopla account.

In order to access our databases from off-campus, you must log in with your YTC username and password (same as D2L).  Note that the library provides an A-Z list of electronic databases located at:       https://yorktech.libguides.com/az.php    You could also click on subject or course-specific research guides (libguides) for your classes at:    https://yorktech.libguides.com/?b=g&d=a    (toggle through the libguide pages using the tabs).

After clicking on a database link, you will be redirected to the York Technical College Single Sign-On page.  Please enter your login credentials (same as D2L) and click the “Sign in” button.  After logging in, you will be directed to the database search box and you can type in your keywords and begin searching!   Having access issues?  Let us know by emailing library@yorktech.edu or call us at: (803) 327-8025   

You can access your online library account in a few simple steps.  First, visit our online catalog and click the "sign in" link in the right-hand corner.  Then click on the "YTC Students & Staff" link. You will then be prompted to enter your YTC email and password. Once you click the blue "sign in" button, you will you be signed in to your library account. Click on your name in the right-hand corner to view your current loans, PASCAL Requests, and more!

• Library Subject Guides:  To get started, you can visit the Library's  Subject Guides  page to see whether your course has a library guide. Don't see your course listed? Don't worry! The Library offers both general subject guides and course-specific guides you can use to get started.
• Live Chat:  The Library offers a live chat service from 8 am - 12 midnight, every day, including weekends and closed during holidays. You can access the "live" chat widget (box) on the Library's  homepage  or by clicking here.  The chat is a great way to get help if you're working on your research in the evening or on the weekend!

Yes! All current YTC students may print  at the Learning Commons.  Printing is free, but we ask all students to be mindful of how much they're printing. In order to print, you must log on to one of the computers in the Learning Commons with your YTC username and password.  All print jobs will print out at the Learning Commons front desk.  Please ask a staff member to retrieve your print job for you.

YTC students and staff may request print materials from the YTC Library stacks by sending an email to   library@yorktech.edu  or call the library at: (803) 327-8025  Please include your name, YTC ID number, the title of the item, and the call number of the item in your email and/or phone call.  A staff member will pull the item for you and email you when the item is ready for pick up at the Library's service desk.

The Library @ the Learning Commons is open the following hours during fall 2023 semester - August 14 through December 8:

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM (note that staff members leave at 7:00pm, but the building stays open until 9:00pm for further needs)
Friday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Yes! The Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center offers online and in-person tutoring opportunities in the Learning Commons. Student computers and printers are available in the Learning Commons and the computer lab in Building A, Room 208.  Also, there are 12 networked desktop computers in the Learning Commons available to the students.  If you are not currently a student at York Tech and/or a prospective student, please stop by the service desk.  The Learning Commons is open Monday - Thursday from 7:30 am - 7:00 pm, Friday from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm and closed on Saturday and Sunday.  The A-208 lab is open Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00pm and closed Saturday and Sunday.   

Current YTC students and staff may search for  materials at other academic libraries through the PASCAL Delivers search option in our online catalog   PASCAL Delivers grants YTC students, faculty, and staff access to materials owned by other academic libraries within the state of South Carolina. Titles unavailable within the YTC collection may be requested in a few easy steps (PASCAL Delivers Directions)

Yes! The Library has TI-84 Plus C graphing calculators that students can borrow for 2 Weeks at a time.  Please visit the front desk in the Learning Commons to borrow a calculator.  If you have further questions, let us know via email  library@yorktech.edu  or call us at: (803) 327-8025

Yes, all York Tech Students, Faculty, Staff and other College affiliates are able to check out materials (print and electronic) and also use library resources and services available at the Main Campus.  YTC Students, Faculty, Staff, and other College affiliates may request print materials from the YTC Library stacks by sending an email to  library@yorktech.edu  or call the library at: (803) 327-8025  Please include your name, YTC ID number, the title of the item, and the call number of the item in your email and/or phone call.  A staff member will pull the item for you and email you when the item is ready for pick up at the Library's service desk.  If you need the material(s) sent to you at the Chester location, please let us know.

Students must complete the Technology/Equipment Loan Request form in order to be considered for the Technology/Equipment Loan Program. The form is used to identify and evaluate the student's technological needs that are not currently being met but are necessary for success in a course. The situation of each student is handled individually, on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility requirements for the program are as follows: 

• Must currently be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours at York Technical College
• Must be completing your program currently and enrolled in the term the loan is requested
• Must have a current/completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file
• Complete a Library Loaner form (linked below)

All applicants for a loaner laptop will receive notification, via their York Tech email address, if request is approved or denied.  If approved, the student can pick up the item from the Main Campus Library service desk at the Learning Commons between 8am - 5pm. Students are required to read and sign an Equipment Loaner Release Form at time of checkout, and will be walked through the laptop login process by staff as well.
